On my daily bike rides through the city I often find hubcaps at the roadside. Made of plastic, they only serve to cover the rim of a car and look as if they were alloy rims. A superfluous object.
Working with plastic finds began in a workshop with Finnish recycling artist Matti Mattson. Since then it has been part of my work.
Creating jewellery from existing materials has a special appeal. Forms are not invented, but discovered, filtered out. New forms are emerging that I have never thought of before.
